Set Up a Warehouse from First Login to First Safe Order

A complete, evidence-led setup sequence for preparing StoreFulfil, connecting a client store, assigning one warehouse location, and releasing the first controlled work.

Updated Sept 2026
Owner: Operations Admin
Area: Warehouse Setup

Before you begin

Take a new warehouse from an empty StoreFulfil account to a controlled first client operation without releasing unowned work.

Prerequisites

  • The warehouse organisation and intended Admin account exist.
  • The first client store and permanent .myshopify.com domain are known.
  • A Shopify user with app development permissions can complete the merchant-side install.

Stop and check

Do not release a client’s orders while the connection or location owner is ambiguous.

The setup order

  1. Confirm the warehouse organisation, Warehouse Admin account, intended users, and permitted client scope.
  2. Create or confirm the client record and permanent .myshopify.com store domain.
  3. Complete the Shopify app setup through the current Dev Dashboard flow, using the exact released scopes and secure client-secret hand-off.
  4. Confirm the connection is healthy, then map exactly one current Shopify fulfilment location to the physical warehouse that owns the work.
  5. Run the initial client sync and read the result. Check that orders, fulfilment work, and inventory are arriving for the mapped location.
  6. Create a controlled first-work check: open one eligible order, verify its current lines and destination, and confirm the team knows where blocked work is handed off.
  7. Release the client to routine operations only after the connection, location ownership, sync result, and first-work check are visible.

Release a warehouse safely

  1. Confirm the Admin account, users, client scope, and client record.
  2. Complete the Shopify app connection and check the exact released access.
  3. Confirm health and map one intended warehouse location.
  4. Run the first sync and inspect orders, fulfilment work, and inventory.
  5. Open one eligible order and confirm the team knows the normal hand-off for blocked work.
  6. Release routine work only after every result is visible.
